The society has given three pre Christmas shows. The first was at Edenbridge Hospital to members of the Community Link; then to the residents of Roman Court and lastly at St. Agatha's Hall, Hurst Green for the Hurst Green Society. All were greatly appreciated by the various audiences. Donations received from Roman Court and the Hurst Green Society were passed on to Kent Air Ambulance and Hospice in the Weald.

October 2007

Our autumn show 'Musical Allsorts 2 ' on the 12th & 13th October proved to be a great success and was well supported despite the counter attractions of the World Cup Rugby in France with England playing France in the semi finals on the Saturday evening. See a selection of photos on the "Past Productions" page.

July 2007

On July 7th our President and Vice Chairman represented the Sociey at N.O.D.A's South East Region Day at the Oast Theatre, Tonbridge. After the official business and lunch they listened to Mr. David Turner give an amusing and interesting talk of his 'Life upon the Wicked Stage'. This was followed by the Awards Ceremony to various Societies for their outstanding productions.

Tracie Batchelor and Karen Lynch attended the Make -up workshop with tutor, Frances Carter.

June 2007

At our Summer Party - held in the St. Paulinus Church Centre due to weather conditions - three of our younger members were presented with N.O.D.A. six year awards by our President. They were Charlotte Edwards; Kirsty Lynch and Rosie Newman-Bekkelund. A fourth member, Jodie Rimmington, who was not present, will receive her award at a later date.

Cheques for £80 have been sent to both the Pastens National Children's Home and the Hospice in the Weald following our annual concert with the Edenbridge Town Band held in December 2006.

A new lighting board has been purchased for the W.I.Hall thanks to the Village Hall Committee.

On the 14th March 19 of our members visited the Royal Victoria Hall, Southborough to support LAMPS in their production of 'The Boy Friend' and had a most enjoyable evening.

A number of our members attended the Edenbridge Players recent production of two one act plays. We need to show our support for them and others societies otherwise we can't expect them to support us.

We regret to announce the passing of Vic Nye. For many years he helped back stage building sets and manning the front curtain. Later he was in charge of Front of House. We send our condolences to his wife, Marge, and family.

With the closing of 'The Snow Queen' on Saturday evening, 20th January, we had to say 'goodbye' to four more of our members. The Godward family have left us to start a new life in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Although they were with us for only a few years they have been a great asset with Cecily's direction skills; George's stage managership and Alex and Nic performances on stage. We wish them all every success in the future.

The Forge Singers with the Edenbridge Town Band under the direction of their new conductor, Malcolm Brown (ex Band of the Scots Guards), gave their annual Christmas Concert on Saturday, 16th December in the W.I.Hall. The singers and band together with the audience had a most enjoyable evening with a mixture of carols and Christmastime music. As usual the profit from the entry charge and raffle will be distributed to the charities nominated by the two groups.

............................

Members of Edenbridge Community Link were entertained in the Day Centre of Edenbridge Hospital on the evening of the 30th November by a group from the Society. A selection of popular songs and carols were enjoyed by those present.

............................

About 20 members of the Society took part in the Edenbridge Bonfire Night Celebrations on Saturday, 4th November. On a dry cool evening they were there as a walking part in the parade all in fancy dress. The parade was followed as usual by a fantastic firework display.

During the past year we have lost the services of six long standing members of the Society. Joan and Dave Savill have moved from their home in East Grinstead to the Isle of Wight where they had been living in earlier years. Anne and Robin Bickers have moved north to Oakham and Kay and David Dowling have 'emigrated' to France. We thank them all for their long and valued service to the Forge Singers and wish them well in their new homes.

Our May show “Thank you for the Music” was a success due to Tracie Batchelor and Karen Lynch’s hard work with full support from the cast and all those involved. A good profit was the outcome for all the effort.
After the show Cecily Godward kindly organised workshops for the company, which proved very rewarding and enjoyable.
............................

In July some members of the committee had a meeting at the home of our Chairman, Ken Day, to make better links with the Edenbridge Players and to discuss working more together. It was agreed to share equipment, costumes etc. It was also decided that the lamps in the W.I Hall should be taken down and cleaned. This has now been completed.
............................

After two weekends through the summer H.Q. has been tidied and all costumes sorted and catalogued. Ken has also been reorganising the sheet music.
............................

On 2nd September a group of our younger members spent a very pleasant day at the Oast Theatre, Hildenborough on a Disney Workshop organised by N.O.D.A.
............................

Towards the end of September the Lord Lieutenant of Kent visited Edenbridge to meet representatives from local organisations and to thank volunteers for their work in the locality. Ken Day and Janet Slack organised a display to represent the Forge Singers and Ken, as Chairman, was then invited to the reception.
............................

In September, Ken Day and his very talented family gave a most enjoyable concert called 'A Night with the Days' in the Parish Church as a fundraiser for the society. Despite a small audience a profit was made.
............................

In October 2005 the Society had been invited by the committee of our French Twin Town, Mount St.Aignan, to put on a show for them in 2OO7. Unfortunately, through lack of support, this will not now be possible.
