The Society was formed over 50 years ago by a small group to sing Christmas carols. The name is taken from 'Forge Cottage' the then home of founder member, Una Higgs, and her husband, Doug.
From those early days the Society has expanded to stage musicals, book shows, pantomimes, revues, etc. We have even taken shows on several occasions to our French Twin Town, Mont St. Aignan, in Normandy. A list of our productions over the years can be seen on Past Productions .
Our main productions are staged in the W.I.Hall in Edenbridge, Kent, with the occasional smaller show in some of the neighbouring villages.
Our aim is to provide high class amateur musical entertainment for the enjoyment of the people of Edenbridge and the surrounding area.
The production this year was an 'Olde Tyme Music Hall 'at the W.I.Hall on the 13th & 14th June 2008.
After an absence of 12 years the Forge Singers are returning to their roots to present for your delight and titillation an Olde Tyme Music Hall with a few additions. An evening of comedy, melodrama and song presented by the Forge Singers but starring "Your Very Good Selves".
Our show is an affectionate and nostalgic look back in the style of the Music Hall as we turn the WI Hall into the Edenbridge Song and Dance Room. A fun filled evening, where characters of yesteryear are brought to life - the dandy, the toff, the rich, the poor, the inebriate, rowdy, boisterous and unrepentant but remaining ,we hope, under the 'tight' control of our Music Hall Chairman?! Join us.
